The keys to a good Marriage!

Monday, May 18, 2009

On Sunday I received a new calling. Yes I will be the new Seminary Teacher for next school year. I am very excited about this new adventure. I love teenagers but not so sure about six in the morning teenagers. I guess we will all learn how to get along as I am not such a morning person myself. Brian is thrilled that he will no longer have to get Baxter up. Baxter's idea is that I should spend all summer preparing lessons so I won't have to do it during the school year. I think I will do it throughout the year. If anyone has any sage advise it will be greatly welcomed!

My only advice to you is..GOOD LUCK! You have been a great music leader, Im sure you can do this too. After all, how differnt are the little kids compared to early morning teens anyway? If you can handle primary, you can handle teenagers!

You are going to be awesome. When they announced it I had 2 thoughts. First, perfect! And second, Dang it that's our music leader! But you have promised to stay with us until the program is over and I am holding you to it!!! We all love having you in Primary.

Don't get mad if they fall asleep... well then again I think I would get offended. I remember I used to do all sorts of stuff during seminary that really offended my teacher. I eventually found that out through her daughter and started to behave more respectfully. Maybe just set ground rules at the very beginning and don't let them sit in comfortable couches and chairs. Get some metal folding chairs!!

no advice I think you've already got the bulk of it figured out.
You know so much more about kids that age then I do.
You'll be awesome, I just wish I could send Clayton over in the mornings. He's already up and he's love it!

Congrats and good luck with it all. So will you team teach with another person or will you end up teaching everyday?
I think you will do a great job, I think the only thing that will be hard for you is the getting up early. I guess just tell the kids and Brian that you need 8 hours of sleep every night and that you are going to bed early and that they can't disturb you.
Keep us posted on how your doing with the early mornings. But for now just sleep in as much as you can!

hmmm, advice? well being a former seminary teacher myself, I would say that it kept me on my toes. Have the kids bring in a box of cereal or milk for breakfast, so that you don't have to provide them with it or eat before they come but you know how early that can be! Sometimes, I survive on just shakes for breakfast because it's too early! Another thing, good luck and happy studying, that took up a lot of my time!
